Tree Stump Removal

We use machines called Stump Grinders that grind the tree stump down to grindings. These are either left in the hole that the stump grinding created or removed depending on your circumstance.
We leave the area ready for the next stage of work, whether grassing or replanting the area or perhaps fencing.

Why Should I Remove A Stump?

After tree removal leaving a stump has many disadvantages, firstly it is unsightly and also a trip hazzard.
Leaving the stump in place also reduces your options of how to use the area in the future.
From the view point of nearby tree and shrub health, decaying stumps can be homes to various fungi types, such as Honey Fungus that can kill otherwise healthy tree and shrubs.

How Much Does Stump Grinding Cost?

The cost of stump grinding varies on a number of factors, including the size and number of stumps to be removed, the location of the stumps and the access to them.
When the stump grinding is straightforward we are often able to give you an indication of costs from a phone call and seeing a few photographs. If the stump grinding is more complex we will give you a fixed quote after a site visit.

What We Need To Know

Number of stumps for grinding.
Stump diameter at ground at ground level.
Height of stump above ground level.
What the area will be used for after removal. The waste chippings may need to be removed.
Is the access route to the stump easy? Is the access route narrow, or are there obstructions such as steps?

You can send us photos by either text, WhatsApp or email, all details are on our Contact page.

I recently hired Devon Arborists to remove an unstable tree for my elderly parents and they were fantastic from start to finish. Max was punctual, professional, and incredibly respectful, taking time to explain everything clearly and the options available. The work was completed safely and to a very high standard, and they left the front garden area spotless. I highly recommend Devon Arborists and thank you to Caroline too for all her help.

Devon Arborists conducted full bamboo survey and removal works at my property recently and were incredibly thorough and professional throughout the whole process. There were several bamboo plants so they personalised the service to conduct the best course of treatment (be it removal or herbicide) according to the location/needs of each plant to ensure effective eradication. They removed all the bamboo that had grown underneath my garden path and put the paving slabs back down so neatly it actually looked better than before the works took place. Keith is incredibly knowledgable, professional, and instantly put me at ease - their 5 year guarantee gives me huge peace of mind that I can call on them with any further questions/last bits of removal for any regrowth in future if needed. Really highly recommend this company - they are clearly experts in this field.

Firstly surprised at the elapsed time from asking for a quote and the date given for execution, but well worth the wait. The team arrived on the day stated, tidy and very polite. The work was speedily and professionally executed and they did not leave until everything was neatly cleared away.
Would definitely use Devon Aborists if I required more tree work in the future.

Devon Arborists did a great job for us today. To begin with, despite storm Claudia causing chaos with loads of rain they turned up. We were not able to be there as we had work commitments but they followed instructions we had given and tidied up well after themselves. Thank you for your good work.

This professional team removed many old intergrowing conifers of varying sizes from our small frontage and rear garden. The stumps were ground down and we were left with neat plantable areas. All the waste was removed, paving and roadway cleared. Highly recommended.

Arranged to have some hedge work done by Devon Arborists. The team arrived promptly at the agreed time; they were polite and cheerful. After discussing and confirming the extent of the trimming, the team carried out the work quickly and efficiently; the site was left clean and tidy when they left.
